Granbury HistoryGranbury, the county seat of Hood County, is picturesquely situated on Lake Granbury and has a population of approximately 5000. It was settled in 1854 by Thomas Lambert, who united it with the settlement called Stockton to form the core of Granbury. In 1866 Hood County and Granbury were both named for Civil War heroes.
